Antique Amida Triad in Zushi Display Case Kannon & Seishi Bosatsu Edo ca. 1700

  

Amida Triad comprising an Amida Buddha placed between a Seishi Bosatsu and Kannon Bosatsu, each figure standing atop a lotus-form dais atop a multi-tiered plinth affixed to the floor of a zushi display case. The three sculptures in wood finished with lacquer and gilt, and the zushi in wood with black-lacquer exterior and lacquer-and-gilt interior now blackly patinated, and decorative gilt-copper hinges. Early- to mid-Edo Period ca.

Zushi exterior height: 19 cm (7.5 in). Width: 12 cm (4.7 in). Depth: 8.5 cm (3.3 in). Height of central Amida Buddha sculpture, including mandorla and plinth: 14.5 cm (5.7 in).

Height of Seishi and Kannon Bosatsu sculptures: 9.3 cm (3.7 in). Packaged weight: 1.5 kg (3 lb).
