#698 CUSTOM BUILT SOLID MAHOGANY FOUNTAIN PEN STORAGE DISPLAY CHEST HAND CRAFTED. This is an oversize chest that can handle longer pens. Dimensions: 19 x 10 1/2 x 6. Originally Built: Circa 1930s or 1940s.

Slot Size: MAIN 7/8 x 8 3/4. DRAWER 7/8 x 8 1/2. Corner Joinery: MITERED LAP JOINTS.

Brass plate is suitable for engraving. This beautifully finished attractive piece of furniture would be a handsome addition to any Office, Den, Living Room, Study, etc. And would make a great gift for your favorite collector. To meet my very high standard of quality, every process in the re-furbishing of this elegant showpiece was completed entirely by hand.

If compared side-by-side with others on the market, I think you would agree - These are better than new. My cases are stronger, better built and higher quality. They are more beautiful and pleasing to look at. The custom built interior is vastly superior to the assembly line cases.

And, mine are heirloom quality and built to last for generations. I could not find a quality, attractive and functional pen chest at an affordable price so I made my own. Most of my cases start out as 30 to 100 -year-old silverware storage chests. They are ideal for vintage and antique fountain pen and writing instruments collections. All the refurbishing procedures are completed by hand to ensure the finished product lives up to my high standards.

First, I disassemble the case and remove all the interior materials. Then I strip the exterior of any decades old varnish, paint or stain and sand it by hand down to new wood to prepare it for staining. The stains and methods I use enhance the grains and the exterior is protected with at least 15 coats of hand-applied polyurethane.

Check out the Before and After photo to see the difference. The case is then re-assembled. Because chests come in many sizes the interior is completely custom built by hand. The fabric is furniture grade ultra-soft faux suede and the medallion is a semi-precious gemstone.
