Vtg DY-O-LA Dye General Store Display Wood Case & Packets of Dye ca 1890-1910

  

This was a countertop store display for Dy-O-La Dyes of Des Moines, Iowa. Made of a dark wood with tin plate advertising on the front and back. One tin plate is mounted on a door that was meant to face the backside of the counter.

Thus, if a customer wanted a certain color dye packet, the store employee would open the cabinet from his side, to see inside where the different colored dye packets were stored in individual compartments. Cabinet could be repurposed to store a variety of other things. Also the cabinet, with the door side, could be faced out for easy access and still benefit from have an advertising tin plate displayed. Measures 16½" X 13¼" X 8. Included are twenty-some dye packets. I think if you were to display them you might want to laminate the envelopes to prevent them inadvertently opening up.
