Very RARE mint 1979 Puma 223 African Big 5 "Lion" Knife With Wood / Velvet Display Case. The date tag is 24972 which dates it being made in the 2nd half of 1979.

This knife is 3 3/4" long w hen closed with a 2 7/8" blade. The Puma model number is 223.

The overall length is 6 5/8. It has a 440A German Steel blade. The blade has a fancy Gold etch with: AFRICAN BIG FIVE on the front of the blade. The rear blade also has a fancy Gold etch with: PUMA GERMANY 223. The handles are Scrimshawed micarta and the brass bolsters are engraved with a fancy engraving by Puma.

The knife comes in the factory wood display case that is velvet lined. This Puma knife is hand made in Solingen Germany.

Puma makes one of the highest quality knives made. This knife also comes with the genuine Puma date tag. 1979 vintage Puma "African Big Five" collector knife. This amazing knife is handcrafted by Puma.

It is a lockback pattern, each knife representing one of the five deadliest big game animals in Africa. The animals are the Leopard, Lion, Cape Buffalo, Rhino, and Elephant.

Each knife features a micarta handle with hand done scrimshaw of the animal on the front side and the name of the animal on the back side. The bolsters are beautifully engraved and the blades are etched on the front and back. These sets have become very hard to find, only 300 were produced. THIS KNIFE IS THE "LION" AND COMES FROM THE VERY RARE SET OF FIVE KNIVES. THE ONLY WAY TO OBTAIN THIS KNIFE WAS TO BREAK UP A SET. PUMA ONLY MADE 300 SETS. Contact: We value your feedback.
