Hand Carved stick Puppets on Paddle, Glass display Case, 2 Chairs. A gentleman brought these unique figures into my shop. He knew the artist personally.

They were carved in 2002. The date and the artist's name is on the back. See pics 6,7 for more information I don't know anything about these other than they are unique and on of a kind. I did pay a lot for them. SerVance was one of North Carolinas most accomplished woodcarvers, creating works that ranged from walking sticks to dancing dolls, from animal carvings to biblical figures.

Its a gift, he said, something that comes like second nature. Nobody ever showed me how to carve. The Lord just gave it to me. He began carving during the Depression as a child, making his own toys from discarded packing crates. He worked with fine hardwood scraps gleaned from the Thomasville furniture industry.

In 1993 he received a North Carolina Folk Heritage Award from the North Carolina Arts Council. The item "(2) 10 in.
